Taking place on Saturday 12th July Heart of the City will be a major highlight of Brisbane’s Days in the Diocese program. Drawing pilgrims, host families and the wider Catholic and Civic community into the city for an inspiring celebration of faith and life! There are three major elements of Heart of the City. 9am to 10am Starting at 9am up to 5,000 overseas pilgrims will have an opportunity to visit one of the five Spiritual Centres in the Central Business District (CBD). The pilgrims will take a short time (approximately 35 minutes) to pray, reflect and experience the sacred place. 10am to 11am Our 5000 international pilgrims will join with the local pilgrims to take a Pilgrimage Walk through the streets of the city to Roma Street Parklands. 11am to 4.30pm At Roma St Parklands a Fiesta of Faith will be unfolding with a full festival program of music, entertainment, food, exhibitions and interactive displays as well as time and space for prayer and reflection. A ceremony led by Archbishop John Bathersby will commence at 2.30pm for one hour. Following this event, the day will continue with more entertainment and fun untill it's conclusion at 4.30pm. Overseas and local pilgrims wishing to participate in the morning session will be given registration instructions during the coming weeks.
